Tasting the Delicious Samples from Koala's March

It was a fun day with some games for the kids when Koala's March distributed their samples at our school recently. Koala's March is a bite-sized cookie snack with a sweet filling inside. It is in the shape of a koala with a picture of a koala on the outside of the cookie doing various activities. There are various flavors available for the filling, such as honey, cafe latte, and banana. The two most common flavors are strawberry and chocolate. I'm loving the taste as I type this and the kids sure did too.

The Innocence of Children

This video reminds me of the beauty and innocence of a child. Have you ever watched a child play? It is exhausting just to watch as they put every bit of their energy into it. Body and mind. Whirling around, zooming across, building with blocks indoors, colouring, lining up toy cars and "baking" a cake. Whatever it maybe, they do it with all energy and all innocence.

Do we as adults have the right to bottle that energy up inside of that child, to mar that innocence with television? Think about it.

A child sits in front of the TV, never ever having to respond to it, no matter what is seen or heard. And what is seen or heard can so quickly fill that innocent mind with a jumble of information the child cannot even discern to make any sense of. It just lies on top of that innocence like a stifling rubber mat and underneath the innocence lies the energy, which just builds up and up and up and has no way of being released. Not a pretty picture isn't it?

How many children are put in that position every single day over and over again? Is there really any reason to wonder why we have so many "hyperactive "or "ADHD" or "whatever label you may wish to put on them" children today? What other result could there possibly be?

Birthday Celebrations

It's Sonia's birthday and she is 5 years old today. I told her that she is 50 years old as she talks non-stop like a 50 year old auntie and complains that she is tired when I give her extra work to do. Sonia comes all the way from Taman OUG in Old Klang Road daily. Her sister Preetika was also a student at our school. Her parents were very proud of Preetika's accomplishments and decided to send Sonia also here. Initially she was at another centre. I am deeply touched and humbled at her parents confidence in me. They don't mind the distance and daily traffic as they trust and support me. Sonia is a very bright and intelligent kid. She reads very well, loves to dance, expresses herself well and is very articulate. I do hope that she accomplishes so much more and still remembers this auntie when she turns 50 years old.

We Love You Mummy and Daddy

Our mother's day celebration was extra special this year with the colourful fancy dress competition. We also had the serenading mummy and daddy competition. My, we have some very talented kids with us. Mummy you are the queen of my heart and daddy you are the king in my land. We love you both tons.

Green Our World Sports Day

We had many interesting and creative games this year for our Sports Day. It was a blast as usual. The children were exhausted as our instructors decided to challenge them with some gruelling tasks. Winning many prizes and goodies for the day, they went home satisfied. A healthy mind and body is crucial for an overall development of a child. Keep it up kids.

Playing Fireman for a Day

The kids had a thrilling time last week during our visit to the fire station in SS17 Subang Jaya. Abang Din briefed the children on the safety procedures that we must follow in an event of an emergency. They practised some of these procedures like how to crawl out if one is engulfed in smoke and how to roll over if your clothes catch fire. The highlight of the trip was trying to put out an imaginary fire and a ride in the fire engine. Thank you Mr. Fireman for keeping us safe. We appreciate and love you.

Smart Reader Kids Day

Today is the official Smart Reader Kids day. A special day dedicated to our kids in which they identify themselves to be different and special in their accomplishments in their formative years. This is attributed to the Smart Creative Teaching Methodoloy which emphasises on the creative thinking process. My 2 kids also followed the Smart Reader Kids programme and I found it to be successful in building positive attributes in them in their early years. It is also due to the good and systematic reading programme for Bahasa Malaysia, English and Mandarin which enables a child to start reading early. It builds their confidence as they are able to express themselves easily and freely. I am always awed at all the Smart Reader Kids as you can immediately identify them in a crowd. They always stand out because of their confidence. We are Smart Reader Kids, the future leaders of our nation.
